Castle Village Farm’s newest horse is the six-year-old New York-bred warrior Dr Disco. We claimed him for $20,000 on January 23rd, 2014, at Aqueduct, almost a year after our trainer Bruce Brown, who had managed Dr Disco for most of the horse’s career, had lost him to a claim. We ran Dr Disco right back in a NY-bred allowance race on January 31st, where, with his regular rider Mike Luzzi back in the saddle, he made a strong move in the stretch to finish second.
Dr Disco has seven wins and 16 in-the-money finishes from 25 lifetime starts, including two wins, a second and a third in NY-bred stakes races. His second-place finish on January 31st put his lifetimes earnings total over $300,000. He followed that up with a win on April 11th, his eighth victory in 27 lifetime starts.
Dr Disco is a chestnut horse by graded-stakes winner Disco Rico out of the stakes-winning mare Dr Margaret, by Dr. Blum. Dr Disco’s full sister, Dance Gal Dance, is also a multiple stakes winner, and his full brother, Dr Rico, is multiple stakes-placed.
Now that Dr Disco is back home in Bruce Brown’s barn, we’re looking for continued success in NY-bred races in 2014.
