All of us at Castle Village Farm appreciate the skill and courage that it takes for a 110-pound human to steer a 1200-pound horse at 40 miles an hour. It’s a dangerous occupation — how many of us do our work every day with an ambulance following behind? And all that for $100 a ride, and a chance at winning. Thanks, men and women of the New York jockey colony, for everything that you do.
Here are a few of the many jockeys who’ve ridden in the turquoise and magenta colors of Castle Village Farm: Jerry Bailey, Javier Castellano, Eddie Castro, Jorge Chavez, Eibar Coa, David Cohen, Kent Desormeaux, Ramon Dominguez, Stewart Elliott, Jose Espinosa, Pablo Fragoso, Manuel Franco, Alan Garcia, Channing Hill, Taylor Hole, Fernando Jara, C. C. Lopez, Mike Luzzi, Eddie Martin, Rosie Napravnik, Diane Nelson, Sheldon Russell, Jean-Luc Samyn, Cornelio Velasquez, and John Velazquez.
Thanks to all.
