Castle Village Farm’s NY-bred 2-year-old filly Underthemoonlight (Golden Missile-Yon Van Dance by Yonaguska) returned to the work tab Sunday Sept. 29 with an in-hand four-furlong breeze over the Belmont training track. Underthemoonlight, who had been getting close to her debut, was set back a few weeks by a colic scare, but recovered quickly and is now back on track for a fall debut.
Castle Village Farm’s East of Danzig was an oh-so-close second in the 1st race at Belmont on Sunday, September 29th. East of Danzig laid off the early pace, then closed down the center of the track under apprentice Manuel Franco to just miss. We’ll look to run him one more time on the turf before the end of the Belmont meet.
Castle Village Farm’s NY-bred gelding East of Danzig is entered in the 1st race at Belmont on Sunday, September 29. It’s a mile and a sixteenth on the turf, with a claiming price of $20,000. Apprentice Manuel Franco rides for CVF trainer Bruce Brown.
Castle Village Farm’s newest claim, East of Danzig, raced for the first time in our colors on Sunday, September 15 at Belmont, finishing 3rd in a mile and a sixteenth turf race. Under hot apprentice Manuel Franco, Alston Gunter raced well back early, then made a strong move into contention on the turn, finishing well to win a three-way photo for the show.
Castle Village Farm’s tough old claiming horse Alston Gunter finished a solid 3rd on Tuesday, September 3rd at PARX Racing near Philadelphia. Trainer Donnie White seems to have found the key to restoring Alston Gunter’s enthusiasm for racing, and we’re looking forward to a win in the near future.
