Castle Village Farm’s 4-year-old NY-bred gelding, Bishop of Nola, returns to his favorite racetrack on Sunday, July 31st, when he takes on a field of 10 in a starter allowance on the turf.

Last year, Bishop of Nola won two races at the Spa. Sunday’s race is for horses that have started for a claiming price of $50,000 or less and have never won a race other than maiden, claiming or restricted (i.e., NY-bred). It’s at a mile and a sixteenth on the inner turf course, for a purse of $49,000, plus a NY-bred bonus. Javier Castellano, who was aboard for Bishop of Nola’s win on June 25th at Belmont, will ride for CVF trainer Bruce Brown.

Castle Village Farm completed a very successful Belmont spring-summer meet with two wins, a second and three third-place finishes from six starts –33% wins and 100% in the money!

Our winners were Bishop of Nola on June 25th and Metrology on June 30th. We’ll be running Bishop of Nola back on his favorite turf course at Saratoga and will also be running our newest claim, In Just we Trust. Metrology, meanwhile, was claimed out of his winning effort on the 30th. Good luck to him with his new connections.

Our newest claim, In Just We Trust, will be entered in a claiming race for Saturday, July 30th, and last-out allowance winner Bishop of Nola will be entered for a starter allowance on Sunday, July 31st. Let’s hope the racing secretary and the weatherman cooperate.
