Castle Village Farm won its sewcond race in a row Friday, June 30th, when Mterology too the 1st at Belmont. That was just five days after CVF’s Bishop of Nola had won a Belmont allowance.

Under perfect handling by jockey David Cohen, Metrology took up his usual position at the back of the field, then started to move at thre three-eighths pole, breezed through the stretch and hit the wire perhaps three inches in front of the second-place horse. Great ride, and great work by CVF trainer Bruce Brown getting Metrology ready off a long layoff.

The Castle Village Farm 2011 Spring-Summer Claiming Partnership claimed its first horse on Friday, June 17th, when we took In Just We Trust for $20,000.

In Just We Trust is a four-year-old by Forest Danger, originally purchased at the 2008 Keeneland September sale for $275,000. Owner Ahmed Zayat and trainer Todd Pletcher let him go a year ago, and he’s since been a solid sprinter on the NYRA circuit. Overall, he’s 4-for 20 lifetime, with 14 in-the-money finishes and earnings of over $126,000. CVF trainer Bruce Brown expects to run him in starter and allowance races over the rest of the year.
