Castle Village Farm’s four-year-old gelding Iguazu makes his second start against winners in Aqueduct’s 2nd race on Friday, April 1. Iguazu won his maiden on February 13th, then finished just a length and a bit back of the winner in his first try at the N2L condition on March 11th. David Cohen will be aboard from post position 4 in a field of six.
Castle Village Farm’s newest claim, Rigby, ran a game race to win a $42,000 starter allowance at Aqueduct on Friday, March 25th.
Rigby, a four-year-old colt by Speightstown, led for the first three-quarters of a mile under the patient hold of jockey David Cohen, then was headed at the top of the stretch but dug and and fought back, pulling out to win by half a length at the wire of the one mile-70 yard race.
Castle Village Farm claimed Rigby for $25,000 on February 6th at Aqueduct, from owner Satish Sanan and trainer Steve Asmussen. In two starts for us since the claim, he now has a win and a third-place finish.
Castle Village Farm’s four-year-old Speightstown colt Rigby is entered in Aqueduct’s 1st race on Friday, March 25. It’s a starter allowance for horses that have run for a $50,000 claiming price or less and that haven’t won a race other than maiden, claiming or restricted. The distance is a mile and 70 yards, for a purse of $42,000.
We claimed Rigby from Padua Stables and trainer Steve Asmussen on February 11th. In his first start in our colors, he had traffic trouble, had to go four-wide, and just missed winning by 3/4 of a length, finishing 3rd. On Friday, he gets regular CVF rider David Cohen. That and the small field should lead to a cleaner trip.
Castle Village Farm’s four-year-old NY-bred gelding Bishop of Nola returns from his winter break on March 11th, taking up residence once again in Bruce Brown’s barn at Belmont and getting ready for the start of the turf racing season next month.
CVF claimed Bishop of Nola for $25,000 at Saratoga last August. In four subsequent starts for us, he had a win, a second and a third, earning over $41,000. When turf racing ended, Bishop of Nola went to Mike Shrader’s In-Front Training Center in Ghent, NY, where he’s been keeping in shape waiting for the snow to melt and the grass to be visible once again.
Castle Village Farm’s four-year-old gelding Iguazu goes for his second win in a row when he heads to the starting gate for Aqueduct’s 2nd race on Friday, March 11. Iguazu won his maiden on February 13th at Aqueduct and now moves up to challenge non-winners of two lifetime. David Cohen rides for trainer Bruce Brown
