Iguazu Wins at Aqueduct

Castle Village Farm’s four-year-old gelding, Iguazu, won today’s 2nd race at Aqueduct in his first start of the new year. Iguazu, under clever handling by jockey David Cohen, dueled heavy favorite Bandon Dunes into submission, then held off late challenges by Baatesh and Upper Afleet to prevail by half a length.

The race was Iguazu’s fourth lifetime start, and the third since returning from a year-long layoff to correct some knee problems. He’d previously finished second and third at today’s $35,000 maiden claiming level since returning to the races and moving to trainer Bruce Brown’s barn.
