Castle Village Farm’s gelding Iguazu celebrated the end of his three-year-old year on December 31st at Aqueduct by finishing 3rd in a three-horse photo, missing the win by just a quarter of a length. Iguazu broke alertly and maintained a narrow lead to the top of the stretch, then battled the regally bred Baatesh and the late-closing Forty Prayers to the wire, just missing in the stretch drive.
December 31st was also the close of the Aqueduct fall-winter race meet. For the meet, Castle Village Farm had five starters — all in the money, with two seconds and three thirds, and average earnings per start of $5,592. For all of 2010, Castle Village Farm had 18 starts, three wins (17%) and 12 in-the-money finishes (67%!), with total earnings of $105,842, an average of $5,880 per start.
