Just Zip It Arrives at the Farm. Our five-year-old mare Just Zip It (City Zip-Just Regular), has arrived at Justine Hughes’ farm in the Virginia horse country, where Just Zip It will begin her new career as a broodmare.  Since we purchased her privately for $25,000 as a two-year-old, Just Zip It had three wins, three seconds and six thirds in her 15-race career (80% in the money), with total earnings of $156,195.  She was stakes-placed three times — in the Wandering Cloud Stakes and the Schenectady Handicap at Belmont and in the Union Avenue Stakes at Saratoga. Just Zip It started showing her age this summer, so we decided it was time find her a new home – and a new purpose in life. We’re planning on being involved with her foals when they’re ready to start racing.

Bagavond Arrives at Carousel Farm for Winter Break. CVF’s six-year-old NY-bred gelding Bagavond (Abaginone-Stylish Aristocrat) has arrived at Diana McClure’s Carousel Stables in northern Virginia, where he’ll get an extended winter break.  In his abbreviated 2009 campaign, Bagavond had a win (in an allowance race at Belmont) and a second, from three starts.  He then developed some ankle problems, which we’re confident can be fixed with some rest and a bit of treatment. Since he’s a turf specialist, Bagavond usually takes the winter off anyway, and we’re planning on having him ready for the start of turf racing in New York in 2010.
