FAQ – How We’re Different
Contact Us
As a Castle Village Farm race horse partner, no matter the size of your share, you are welcome in the paddock and the winners circle for your thoroughbred horses races. You will stay on top of your racehorses progress, and share your own opinions about thoroughbred horse racing with the other partners, through the Castle Village Farm internet group for your horse and racing partnership. Youll also participate in the Castle Village Farm Info internet group, where we post general news of interest to all horse racing partners. All partners are also welcome at the annual Castle Village Farm party in Saratoga, which features great food, great company (your fellow partners), and music by Sam the Bugler of NYRA and his very talented friends. Our Partners Our most important resource is our horse racing partners. Our racehorse partnerships include people whove been going to the track for 50 years as well as folks who just recently became interested in thoroughbred horse racing. A number of us have owned thoroughbred partnership shares in other horses; a few of us, in fact, are veterans of several Internet-based syndicates. Among us, we have a variety of talents, from computer skills to photography (as displayed on this site) to tennis, finance and law, not to mention our shared interest in horse racing. Many of us are avid handicappers. A few of us actually keep horses at home, though not the racing kind. Our strength is that, together, we know more than any one of us could possibly know alone. By sharing our knowledge and insights, were able, we hope, to make better decisions. Our Trainers Our principal trainer in New York is Bill Turner, perhaps best know as trainer of the Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew. More recently, Bills had the graded-horses Punch Line, Gaviola and Finery. What we like about Bills training methods are the care that he devotes to each individual racehorse, and the patience he displays in bringing thoroughbred horses to the races only when theyre ready. That requires patience on our part as well, but in the long run its better for the race horse. Our other principal New York trainer is Leah Gyarmati, who trains for our claiming partnerships and for the original Castle Village Farm 1999 partnership. Leah was Castle Village Farms first trainer, beginning in 1999, and she currently trains Flippy Dianes babies, Flip de Lite and Unconcerned, for that original group. She began her training career with our mare Flippy Diane, whom we claimed for $20,000 and who won the $100,000 Maryland Million Distaff for us in Flippys second start off the claim. Overall, Leah has a very solid record, with 11% wins in her career. Equally important, she understands how Castle Village Farm operates, and she is not bothered by having large numbers of owners. Our Managing Partner Steve Zorn has been following thoroughbred horse racing since he was in high school. Steve is a lawyer who has also been a technical adviser at the United Nations, a Wall Street tax attorney and a law professor at Pace University. More important, for our purposes, he has participated in a variety of racing partnerships, including Virtual Owners Partnership, Cyberspace Racing Team and LSI Gold Stables. Steve devotes substantial time to coordinating the work of Castle Village Farm and performs the legal and tax accounting work for the partnership (at no charge).
